Windsor Chairs

Windsor chairs are true heirlooms, built to outlast their creators and owners and made to be passed down through the generations. These chairs are built much in the same way they were built over 200 years ago using the same type of tools and building methods as age-old craftsmen. Shawn uses pine or poplar for the seats, two woods that lend themselves to the shaping process. Oak, which when riven is very strong and bends well, is used for the spindles, arms and bows. Maple or birch is used for the undercarriage (legs and stretchers) due to their ability to hold a defined edge when turned. While angles and measurements are critical, it's the craftsman's eye which Shawn has developed over the years that makes each chair a distinctive and functional work of art.
